All In One Restaurant & Bar, Park Street
The All in One has been a lively spot on the late night scene in Park Street for more years than I care to remember, delivering decent food when the only other option for the hungry reveller would be the somewhat suspect burger van on the centre. Its recent refurbishment sees a funky makeover with colourful lime green walls, wooden tables and mixed chairs in colourful reds and orange, flanked by a most attractive bar with all the right kit for catering to cocktail lovers.
I was happy to see the menu is still faithful to the restaurant’s Greek origins, with my firm favourite moussaka topping the menu along with kleftico. The special omelette is still there too and a variety of steak dishes with different sauces. For the strapped for cash, the prices are definitely a big draw, a £4.50 menu is served until 2.00 am, and there is a drinks offer, £2.00 for a pint of Beck’s beer, or a glass of house red or white wine, or a vodka cocktail.
Although we were happy to go down memory lane, as it was a Tuesday night we felt it would be foolish to dabble in after midnight eating and popped in at the more respectable time of 8.30 pm. Nevertheless the atmosphere was still lively with an assortment of drinkers taking cocktails at the front of the restaurant looking out over Park Street and diners slotted in at the cosy tables at the back. We shared cheesy garlic bread to start, then moussaka and chips for me and special omelette and chips for him, with a couple of pints of the Beck’s beer thrown in to complete the deal.
The food was really good; the omelette was enormous, its filling being ham, chicken, mushroom, tomato, and sweet corn and very much plenty of it. Pleasingly the moussaka was as good as I remembered from the old days, tasty mincemeat, aubergines and potatoes topped with a rich creamy white sauce and that too was very generously portioned.
We had fun and the price of the evening, including a tip as the service was excellent too (down to mint imperials delivered with the bill) was a total of £26.00 which has got to be very good value in anyone’s book.
