Yoji - Weston-Super-Mare
If like me you love a wonderfully good sushi restaurant but can never seem to find one, then there’s a little gem hidden in the heart of Weston super mare which is a must. YOJI was set up 3 years ago and since then has been going from strength to strength, delivering an incredible experience for any diner that walks through the door.
The contemporary design throughout is very impressive consisting of a beautiful bar area, spacious restaurant and seating in front of the Teppanyaki cooking area where you can sit and marvel at the amazing cooking techniques being made to look easy by head chef Joey and his team.
With a wonderful mixture of Sushi, Teppanyaki, salads, soups and noodle dishes to choose from one of the hardest things is deciding just what to order.
We began with the miso soup and Suzuki tempura salad. The soup was incredible and as good as any miso soup I’ve ever tried. Our tempura sea bass fillets in the salad were equally brilliant. The tempura batter creating such a light crisp coating to some incredibly fresh Sea bass. To follow on from this we had a selection of sushi consisting of Salmon, Tuna, Mackerel and Sea Bass. Presented beautifully and tasting stunning when mixed with wasabi and the restaurants own homemade soy sauce, this was seriously good quality sushi.
Main course came with some wonderful theatre from the tappanyaki chef as he cleverly prepared our fillet and sirloin steaks in front of us. The beef was both tender and incredibly flavoursome. With the beef came a mixture of veg and potatoes which again was cooked to perfection.
To finish we enjoyed another of Bobbi’s recommendations, the tempura coated strawberries with chocolate sauce and the house dessert speciality, the homemade warm chocolate cake. As predicted, they both tasted amazing. The chocolate cake cooked to perfection to reveal a lovely chocolate ganash sauce in the middle.
As we left the restaurant both me and my companion both realised we’d eaten in a very special establishment which is destined for success. I’ve already re-booked to go back again.
